Thanks, Jozsef. Yes, I did explicitly specify gcc. It turns out that this did
not cause the problem. Some of our systems use modules, and at some point I
started to include the intel compiler (v18.0) in my suite of modules, while I
still specified gcc for the Charm++ build. When I started to see problems
today, I switched to icc, and eventually dropped down to 17.0 and 16.0, all
to no avail. But when I removed all intel modules and switched back to gcc,
all problems went away, and I could build Charm++/NAMD properly. I guess the
Intel module created trouble with include paths.

Also, what is your Charm++ build command? gcc is the default on linux so you
should not have to explicitly specify it (which if you do, might mean
trouble).

I.e., instead of
