Hi, Steve.

We do have a Java SRL now, but it has a number of dependencies.  Our current plan is to release it as part of a (large) bundle that includes our NLP Curator software, which manages those dependencies.

You can download the current version of the Curator, which includes SRL among other tools, here:

-- The curator has installation documentation.  It requires Thrift v 0.4.0 to be installed; we plan to update this to a (much) more recent version of Thrift but it will take some time.  SRL also requires the Charniak component to be compiled and run; this is in C++ and I am not sure whether this was a stumbling block for you when you looked at the previous version of SRL.

By default, this package will also install the Wikifier, a tool we have developed that we think has broad application to NLP problems. 

The curator bootstrap.sh and build.xml files can be modified to avoid installing the Wikifier (and other components) but it's not set up using command line options -- you have to change flags or comment out code.  Not elegant but I haven't had time yet to make this more straightforward.

If you go ahead with trying to get the entire package running, please post any problems you have to this list, and I will try to help you resolve them.

Last April I got a prediction from someone on the team that a Java version of SRL would be released soon.  Any update on progress with this?
