Title: DoD Funding Opportunities
Speaker: Wendy Martinez, Office of Naval Research

Abstract:
This talk will focus on funding opportunities in the Department of Defense. I will discuss new directions in science and technology that are of interest to the Navy, the funding process at the Office of Naval Research, corporate funding programs, and more.
Bio:
In 1995, Wendy Martinez received her Ph.D. in computational statistics from George Mason University. She has been working for the Navy for 15 years, supporting R&D efforts in academia and industry, in addition to doing her own research. While at the Naval Surface Warfare Center R&D laboratory, she conducted research in probability density estimation, signal processing, scientific visualization, and pattern recognition. Wendy then transferred to the Office of Naval Research, where she manages science and technology projects that range from basic research to fielded systems. She is the co-author of two books in statistics: Computational Statistics Handbook with MATLAB and Exploratory Data Analysis with MATLAB.
