Ling 507 -- Formal Semantics I
An introduction to semantic theory for natural language, in a compositional, type-theoretic framework. Specific topics to be covered include function-argument structure, quantification, and anaphora, as well as basic issues concerning the general architecture of a semantic theory. A valuable course not only for students specializing in semantics, but also for those with an interest in syntactic theory, pragmatics, computational linguistics, and many other areas.
The listed prerequisite of LING 407 (Intro to Mathematical Linguistics) will not be enforced this semester.
Meeting time: MWF 9:00-9:50. Location: Davenport 169. Instructor: Peter
Lasersohn
