50% RA Position Available for Fall/Spring 2011-2012: Contribute to the car
insurance technologies of the future

The Semantic Frontiers Group @ the University of Illinois and the Beckman
Institute are pleased to offer one 50% RAship for Fall/Spring 2011-2012 with
funds from the car insurance industry.

We are seeking one hard working and enthusiastic RA with preparation in
natural language processing (NLP) / computational linguistics or text mining,
and machine learning (ML) or data mining. The task is to devise and build an
information extraction prototype system for intelligent analysis of car
insurance texts.

Candidates should have programming skills in OO design and implementation
using Java and C++, and demonstrable ability to work with various open source
NLP and ML tools and libraries. PhD students are preferred; additional
knowledge of data visualization is a plus.

Term of employment: Fall 2011 semester with continuation in Spring based upon
good progress in the Fall.
