Dear pattern friend,

The registration for EuroPLoP 2020, the European Conference on Pattern Languages of Programs, is open (until June 22nd). This year, the conference will be held online.

After registration and payment (registration fee is € 150), you will receive an invite link to our conferencing platform, followed by an assignment to a writers' workshop group. You can find detailed information about the registration and the conference here: https://europlop.net/content/conference-information

Schedule:
At the core of the conference, the mandatory writers' workshops will be held at several time slots between July 2nd-3rd. In these workshops, you will be assigned to groups to discuss the papers. This is the only part that is mandatory to attend. There are also some voluntary sessions before and after the workshops (but more about that later).

IMPORTANT: Upon registration, please also tell us your possible time slots, so that we can assign you to a fitting group: https://doodle.com/poll/5mc4e6i62m6heund
We will cluster people with similar time slots together. Each submission will be discussed for one full hour, and the group can agree on the exact times of the discussions during their respective time slots. This is how we cope with the vastly different time zones (around the world) and still give the groups individual freedom to schedule their exact times.

Furthermore, we will host the following four voluntary sessions at fixed times: Welcome, Demo Workshop, Pattern Writing, and Farewell Session. In these sessions, we will introduce you to the conference and explain everything. Summarized the schedule looks as follows:
  • Before the conference:
  • Read and annotate the assigned papers for your group.
  • Login into the conferencing platform and get acquainted with it. Test your audio/video equipment.
  • Agree on the exact times during your time-slots and get to know the other group members.
July 1st:
July 2nd - July 3rd:
  • Writers' Workshops: You have to discuss the papers of your group during the assigned time-slots. There will be three possible time-slots on each of the days: 07:00-12:00, 12:00-17:00, 17:00-22:00 (all UTC) It is only mandatory to participate in the workshops of your group. If you want, you can attend other groups as well (but listen-only).
July 4th:
  • 13:00-14:00 (UTC) Pattern Writing & Shepherding Workshop: We discuss what patterns are, how to write them, and how to shepherd them.
  • 14:00-15:00 (UTC) Farewell Session: Wrap up of the conference and saying goodbye to everyone.
You can also import this via the following google calendar link: EuroPLoP 2020 Google Calendar

Hope to see you at the conference!

Best Regards,

Michael Krisper & Tiago Boldt Sousa
