PLoP 2010 submission deadline extension

The deadline to submit a paper for the 17th Conference on Pattern
Languages of Programs has been extended to June 1st.

Many authors have asked for an extension and since there is enough time
for shepherding we took the chance to extend the deadline. Please
tell your colleagues about the extension or post the extended deadline in
your blog or on your website.

For those of you who know about patterns, this is your invitation to 
participate in this year’s Pattern Languages of Programs (PLoP) 
conference in Reno/Tahoe, Nevada, and share your knowledge with experts 
in your field. PLoP 2010 will be held in conjunction with Splash, 
formerly OOPSLA http://www.splashcon.org/. Whether you have been a 
pattern author in the past or wonder why no one has written down those 
patterns you know all too well, this is your chance to contribute your 
expertise and receive feedback from pattern experts and practitioners.

PLoP is the premier international conference on patterns. Meet pattern 
enthusiasts from all over the world, learn about successful designs and 
architectures, and have your work discussed in a Writer’s Workshop. 
Patterns help to shape our world in a positive way by reporting 
successful solutions that have shown to work in the past. There is no 
need to reinvent the wheel when there is plenty of help offered by a 
community of practice.

The purpose of PLoP is to promote the development of pattern languages, 
primarily about aspects of software: design and programming, testing, 
software architecture, user interface design, domain modeling, 
education, human relations, and software processes. Patterns and pattern 
languages for domains outside software are also welcome.

The process of pattern mining documents recurrent best practices. It 
addresses practitioners and academics alike. We value those patterns 
that have practical application and help resolve difficult problems in 
design. The process of pattern writing is supported by the pattern 
community, which offers shepherding and Writer’s Workshops if you attend 
the PLoP conference.

Paper submissions may include short papers containing one or more 
patterns, longer pattern languages or sequences, or work-in-progress 
papers for in-depth shepherding by experienced pattern authors at the 
conference.

In addition, you can submit proposals for free-format discussion groups 
or workshops that bring together people interested in a hot topic 
related to patterns or proven practices, for a period of about two 
hours. Proposals addressing interdisciplinary topics and topics from 
other domains than software development are especially encouraged. 
Non-conventional formats are welcome.

Paper submissions are due on May 18, 2010, followed by shepherding where 
you will continue to work on your paper and get individual feedback from 
your shepherd.
