EuroPLoP 2006
11th European Conference on Pattern Languages of Programs
5th - 9th July 2006, Irsee, Bavaria, Germany

Call For Papers and Participation

EuroPLoP(tm) is the premier European conference on software patterns
and other written work on the craft of developing software
systems. The conference offers a variety of tracks and workshops that
allow you to learn about patterns and other ways to document software
development practices, to receive feedback on your own work, and to
discuss with fellow enthusiasts. EuroPLoP traditionally accepts papers
containing patterns or pattern languages. Starting from this year, a
new track is established accepting a broader range of papers related
to proven practices in developing software. EuroPLoP 2006 will be
held 5th - 9th July 2006 in Irsee, Bavaria, Germany. Join us for an
experience that will combine outstanding technical events with a visit
to the lovely Bavarian countryside.

We solicit submissions in the following categories:

1) Pattern papers: Short papers containing one or more patterns

Longer pattern languages or sequences

Works-in-progress by newcomers which get an in-depth
shepherding by an experienced pattern author at the conference

2) Proven practices papers [NEW TRACK]:

Papers about the craft of writing software

Papers about the concept of patterns and proven practices in general

Case studies of patterns in action

Papers about writing software or patterns

Papers about software development communities of practice

3) Focus group proposals. Focus groups are free-format discussion
groups or workshops which bring together people who are interested in
a challenging topic related to patterns or proven practices.
Non-conventional ideas ... such as goldfish bowls ... are welcome.

All submissions should generally be related to the craft of developing
software. Example topic areas at previous EuroPLoPs were:

- Software development
- Software design
- Software architecture
- Software maintenance
- Software development processes
- Software organization
- Human computer interaction
- Software business
- Software management

Please feel free to contact the program chair
(uwe.zdun AT wu-wien.ac.at)
with any questions about format and content that you might have
before submitting a paper.

The main focus of EuroPLoP will be a series of writers' workshops
where authors work together to improve their papers. Before
pattern or other papers are accepted for a writers' workshop, they are
shepherded (non-anonymously). This means that an experienced author
will discuss your submission with you, so that you can improve your
paper prior to the conference. All submissions will be peer-reviewed
by the members of the program committee.

Authors should limit a submission to material that can be covered in a
writers' workshop session. This is generally ten pages or less. The
EuroPLoP proceedings are published in book form by the publisher
Universitaetsverlag Konstanz after the conference.

Upcoming Submission Dates:

Deadline for submissions: 28th January 2006

Start of shepherding: 5th February 2006

Notification of acceptance: 26th April 2006

Conference drafts due: 11th June 2006

All submissions should be submitted in electronic form (in PDF format)
via email to the program chair and the conference chair:
